The plan must fit current applicable professional requirements, the assistant’s duties and the supervising clinician’s capacity.

Mentorship for school-based practice
Mentorship can focus on moving into schools, organizing documentation, understanding team communication or discussing complex service-delivery questions. Common questions
Can a district request supervision for an SLPA already on staff?
Yes. AU can review a request to supervise an existing SLPA, subject to credentials, capacity, responsibilities and the applicable supervision requirements.
Is mentorship the same as formal supervision?
No. A mentorship conversation does not establish formal supervision. That responsibility must be separately agreed and meet the requirements for the arrangement.
